Surreal Science

You like stuff that doesn’t make sense, right? Then this is the web comic for you! Join Hunk and Alice as they prove that work is one long coffee-break (just like real life!), or it would be if they weren’t continually thrown into the world of Surreal Science.

The Cast

Alice

Human isn’t a word you’d apply to Alice if you thought there was an alternative. She wears spectacles she doesn’t need and owns an empty cupboard that should have a warning sign. At some point she inexplicably found herself working as a technician in an institute with it’s own talking squid.

She’s not really that suprised.

Hunk

If there’s a complex equation that needs solving or a dangerous invention that needs half-finishing then Hunk’s your man. With eternal optimism, dry wit and an unhealthy obsession with the pretty art technician, he’s there to ensure at least someone survives Alice’s wrath.

The Bad News Squid

Defying any sort of biological explanation, the BNS lives in the roof and has a seventh sense for Bad News (yes, the capitals are deliberate), delivering it with all the regularity of a postie to unsuspecting individuals. Whilst never the direct cause, he’s not above exacerbating the situation.

Assuming the BNS is a ‘he’.

The Crew

Chris

With the ability to come out with all sorts of weirdness, the decision to start writing down – rather than just saying – whatever comes into his head, Chris has suddenly found himself in the perfect position to author a web comic. You’ll notice his real life science background and distaste for life’s little annoyances carry over into his writing.

Sorcha

Hasn’t drawn for nearly a decade and only started again because of te crazy idea, spilled over coffee one day, that the real working lives of a certain, nameless, technical team could be immortalised in a webcomic. With inappropriate levels of exaggeration. Which is why she finds herself here, drawing talking squids, psychotic robots, random explosions and other such anomalies.

Neither Chris or Sorcha are professionals in the artistic sense, and the webcomic is created and uploaded with the use of a sketchbook, marker pens and free software. Go, freebies!!
